Volunteer Guidelines, FAQ & Documents
01
What will I do when I volunteer?
Volunteers help set up, staff, and break down our Baby Basecamp tents at public events. You may assist with greeting parents, restocking supplies, wiping down surfaces, directing families to our changing or lactation areas, or helping ensure the space remains calm, clean, and welcoming.
03
Do you have specific time commitments?
Most shifts are 3–5 hours depending on the event. We ask that all volunteers commit to their full shift to ensure smooth operation and support for families throughout the event.
05
Can minors volunteer?
Yes. Volunteers must be 16 or older to volunteer independently. Volunteers aged 13–15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is also signed up for the same shift.
07
Do I need to bring anything?
We provide all necessary supplies. Just bring water, sunscreen (for outdoor events), and a helpful attitude.
02
Do I need to schedule in advance?
Yes. All volunteers must sign up in advance so we can coordinate event staffing and logistics. Walk-ups cannot be accommodated. Shifts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
04
Do I need to train to become a volunteer?
No formal training is required. However, we’ll provide a short orientation before each event to walk you through expectations, setup, communication protocols, and how to interact with families respectfully and professionally.
06
What should I wear?
Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes are required. Branded volunteer shirts may be provided for some events. Please avoid clothing with inappropriate language or graphics.
08
Where do events take place?
Baby Basecamp partners with family-focused public events across San Diego and surrounding areas. Event location details will be emailed upon signup.
