We’re creating the Outpost Marketplace by Baby Basecamp because we’ve lived the frustration and worry firsthand. Like many families, we relied on platforms like Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp to buy and sell baby gear and family essentials—but each time, we faced the same anxiety: Is this person legit? Is the item safe? Is this a scam?
Too often, traditional marketplaces are littered with scams, unreliable sellers, and unrelated products, making it hard for parents to find what they genuinely need. I would watch my wife spend hours scrolling Facebook Marketplace, frequently checking profiles to make sure sellers seemed trustworthy and the products safe. We knew there had to be a better way.
